How to get to Lake Como?
The easiest way to get to Lake Como is by flying into Milan’s Malpensa Airport (MXP).
There are direct flights from major U.S. cities like New York, LA, and Chicago. Since MXP is a bit outside the city center, you’ll need to take the Malpensa Express train to Milano Centrale.
From there, catch a train to Como or Varenna. If you’re heading to Bellagio, just hop on a ferry from Varenna.
If you want to get to Bellagio, once you’re in Varenna, hop on a ferry to Bellagio. The whole trip takes about three hours, depending on where you’re staying.


How to get around Lake Como?
The best way to get around Lake Como is by ferry, which is not only scenic but also super convenient for traveling between towns like Bellagio, Varenna, and Menaggio.
If you’re hopping between towns around the lake, trains are a great option, with routes connecting places like Como, Varenna, and Lecco.
I personally opted for ferries and trains during my visit, and it was such an easy and beautiful way to explore the lake.
You can also use buses to reach smaller towns, though they can be slow and crowded. For more flexibility, renting a car or scooter is a good choice, but parking can be tricky in some areas.
And don’t forget to explore on foot! Many of the towns are best discovered by walking through their charming streets and along lakeside promenades.
How far is it from Lake Como to Venice?
