Culinary Journeys: Exploring the Best Places to Eat in Ubud, Bali

Ubud is undoubtedly one of the most touristy places in all of Bali. Here, you’ll find a plethora of upscale boutiques, exclusive hotels, and exotic spas. However, what we enjoyed most in this city is the fantastic Balinese cuisine. So, if you, like us, are fans of delicious, authentic food, be sure to take a break between temple visits and indulge in a true feast at one of the local restaurants. Below are our recommended places to eat in Ubud. We’ve categorized them for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and cocktails. We hope these restaurants will elevate Ubud on your culinary list!

Best Breakfast Places to Eat in Ubud

1. Suka Espresso

Recommended, beautifully decorated cafe that not only serves coffee but also delicious breakfasts (not necessarily Balinese style), available until late afternoon.

All menu items are presented in a very aesthetic manner and taste as good as they look.

You can choose from breakfast sets such as: omelet with baby spinach, tomatoes, mozzarella, and chimichurri sauce, fluffy pancakes with fruit compote, ice cream, and whipped cream, or a burger with crispy bacon, fried egg, grilled tomato, and potato pancake.

Doesn’t it sound amazing?

2. Ivy Cafe

Another excellent breakfast spot in Ubud, offering unique dishes throughout the day.

3. Puspa’s Warung

A small, yet charming restaurant located on Jalan Goutama Selatan, which we discovered by chance after returning from the Monkey Forest.

The eatery is known for serving delicious Indonesian cuisine made exclusively from healthy ingredients.

The fact that it’s often challenging to secure a table on the spot attests to the excellent dining experience offered here.

The menu features both meat dishes (with chicken or fish) and options dedicated to vegetarians. Those who appreciate healthy cuisine will not be disappointed!

We tried mie goreng, curry, and raw chocolate balls. All the dishes melted in our mouths and ranked among the top meals we had the opportunity to taste throughout our entire journey in Indonesia.

4. Fair Warung Bale

A restaurant located in the heart of the city that not only serves delicious local food but also donates all of its profits to medical care for the most needy.

We wholeheartedly say yes to such interesting concepts!

We opted for aromatic tuna curry and the traditional Balinese herbal drink, jamu.

We must admit that the intensely gingery flavor with a strong hint of turmeric immediately revitalized us.

You must definitely check it out during your vacation in Ubud.

Best Dinner Places to Eat in Ubud

5. Moksa

This place is a true gem on the culinary map of Ubud and perhaps our favorite in this compilation.

A fantastic plant-based restaurant that bases its entire menu on super-healthy and organic ingredients. The restaurant is located slightly off the beaten path, making it an ideal spot for a romantic dinner for two.

Next to the restaurant, there is a farm where organic fruits and vegetables are cultivated, later finding their way onto our plates. Chef Made ensures the extraordinary quality, taste, and visual presentation of the dishes served here.

The items we tried include: vegan caesar (frozen cheese with sun-dried tomatoes, vegan dressing, pumpkin seeds, tempeh, and parmesan), hummus (spicy zucchini hummus with olives, fruit carpaccio, and avocado salsa), chef’s bowl (green curry rice with eggplant, kimchi, mushrooms, tofu, and greens), and two detoxifying cocktails.

All the dishes tasted excellent, and their appearance resembled culinary works of art (see for yourself). We were and still are very impressed with this place. Be sure to visit, just remember to reserve a table in advance!

Price Range: From 20,000 to 90,000 IDR. Open daily from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

6. Mudra CafΓ©

Another restaurant on our list specializing in healthy Ayurvedic cuisine. Everything you eat here comes from a nearby farm or the ocean.

An ideal place for breakfast (they serve delicious Balinese coffee), an elegant dinner for two, or a casual drink with friends. An additional advantage of this restaurant is its intimate character and convenient location.

During our visit, we indulged in Indian curry with roti and inventive cocktails, and everything was very tasty. It’s also worth making a reservation in advance here to savor the unique flavors and cozy ambiance.

Price Range and Opening Hours

Price Range: From 55,000 to 110,000 IDR per dish, cocktails from 30,000 IDR. Open daily from 8:30 AM to 10:00 PM.

7. No MΓ‘s

If you’re looking for a unique place for an evening drink, I highly recommend No MΓ‘s. It’s not just a bar but a true feast for the senses, and its unique decor only emphasizes that. Diverse musical vibes, from rock to salsa, create an unforgettable atmosphere.

Cocktails are expertly crafted by the friendly staff – ask for Kris, and he’ll surely conjure something special. Evenings at No MΓ‘s are a perfect opportunity for relaxation and fun with friends. You must experience it for yourself by visiting this place!

8. Sayan Point

This one of the most luxurious hotels in the city is, in our opinion, one of the best places for a drink (it’s just a pity it’s so hard to find).

As the name suggests, this place boasts an impressive outdoor terrace where, while sipping a drink, you can also enjoy a splendid view.

And it’s not just any view! Below lies a picturesque valley of the Ayung River, covered with lush vegetation. In addition to refreshing cocktails, this place also serves delicious Indonesian and international cuisine.
